Two Stones Farm is located in the Catskill Mountains of southeastern New York State. The old-timers in the Catskills describe our soil type as "two stones for every dirt", which is where our name comes from. Our goats spend eight months of each year on pastures that are above 2,000 feet in elevation, and tend to kid during January and February, when the temperatures are pretty low. Our goal is to develop a herd of meat goats that are well adapted to these conditions.

At Two Stones Farm, we maintain a quality herd of goats that have been selected over five generations for hardiness, vigorous growth, and maternal characteristics. Most of our percentage does are generally 3/4 Boer and 1/4 Fainting Goat, with a little Spanish and Nubian mixed in. These hybrid goats don't mind climbing our hills to graze, and offer an outstanding ability to be productive during our harsh Catskill Mountain winters. From our perspective, the ideal doe will kid every eight months and will produce fast growing kids without any challenges. We think that goats are a great part-time farm enterprise that can be enjoyed without spending thousands of dollars on fancy breeding stock.

Give us a call and we'll be glad to show you around!

An old-timer, when asked how he could tell where the Catskill Mountains began, once said -
"You keep on going until you get to where there's two stones to every dirt. Then you're there."
